What to do if your iPhone screen is cracked or broken?
A broken iPhone screen can be frustrating. But as data points out, it can also be quite expensive.

If you’re like me your cellphone probably has a cracked phone screen but it’s still working. It seems every phone I own the screen eventually cracks. I used to get it fixed right away if I had the money but sometimes I never bothered. Nowadays I wait until the phone stops working even if I can afford to fix it. I think the best thing to do is keep a second phone handy just in case.
Recently I had to go on a business trip and had cracked phone screen so I took a chance and didn’t fix it. This was a bad decision because the first day into my trip it stopped working all together. I couldn’t find a place that would fix it so I missed a couple of really important calls. From this point on if my cellphone screen is cracked and I have to leave town I’m going to fix it first.
My friend said he always gets his phone fixed as soon as possible. One time he used his phone for a while with a broken screen only to get it wet. When he tried to get it fixed the shop couldn’t get it to turn on again and he lost the use of the phone. This was a real bummer because he didn’t back it up and he lost all of his data. This is probably my biggest fear with my cellphone, losing my data.
I guess there is no definite answer how long a cracked screen will keep working. It could work for a day or weeks, even months before it stops working. I keep my data backed up regularly so I can gamble a little if my screen is broken.
I guess if the cost to fix my broken screen is cheap enough than fixing right away is the smarted choice. I try to keep a case on it these days and that really helps.
My iPad screen cracked and I want to get it fixed. I brought to my local repair store that fixed my sons iPad cracked screen last month. When they told how much it would cost I almost lost it. It was more than double my sons iPad cracked screen repair. When I asked why the tech told me that not every iPad is the same and it’s important to understand the difference.
The iPad has been the tablet of choice for many people since its first introduction. The iPad was introduced and made its debut in April 2010. Since the original announcement, there have been 5 additional iPad generations, a new “Mini” series of 7.9-inch iPad tablets, and most recently, a 12.9-inch iPad “Pro” and its smaller 11-inch and 10.5-inch counterpart. The biggest difference between all of the iPad models is how the screen is designed. The first five generations used the same screen assembly design. The same can be said about the first three generations of the Mini. All of these iPad screen assemblies had separate glass and LCD’s. The iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 4 and all of the iPad Pro’s use fused glass and LCD screen assembly. This may sound like no big deal but when it comes to repair it makes a world of difference
The LCD is the part of the screen that shows the picture, just like a TV or Monitor. It’s the most expensive part of any screen assembly. When the front glass is cracked on an iPad that has separate parts, it’s an inexpensive repair. But when the parts are fused together it becomes more expensive because both need to be replaced. So I found out why my iPad Air 2 cracked screen costs twice as much to repair than my son’s iPad Air. The difference between the two was how the screen assembly was constructed. Even though my LCD was not broken, it had to be replaced. My wife and I agreed to make sure we let the kids only use the iPad that has separate glass and LCD. Because even if it’s in a case they still find a way to crack the iPad screen.
I dropped my iPhone XR and both the front and back cracked. I don’t have Apple care so bringing to the genius bar is not an option. I got a quote from a third party repair store but it’s still expensive. I got the iPhone XR because it was the cheapest of the newest phones. So I decided to go to online and see if there was any DIY videos and iPhone XR repair by myself
The first thing I found out was the special tools I would need. Apparently the iPhone XR repair requires special screwdrivers that you can’t but from the local hardware store. I had to purchase a repair kit specifically for the iPhone X, it wasn’t expensive though. The next thing I need to purchase was a replacement screen. I found out that there were a couple different grades of quality and I decided to get the cheapest one. To my surprise and disappointment none of the screens that are sold online are genuine Apple parts. This made me a little nervous but there was no other option. I found out Apple and all the other manufacturers don’t sell any of their parts to the public. I purchased the screen that had a warranty and looked for the easiest to follow DIY video.
Repairing the screen was not difficult but it’s very important to be patient and follow the video. Many of the parts from the old screen need to be transferred to the new screen. This was the most difficult part because of the adhesive they use. I had to use my hair dryer to heat up the glue so it was easy to remove. I was really careful and you need to be. If you rip any of the cables you can disable the facial recognition and worse, disable the phone. The iPhone XR screen repair is not impossible but it is time consuming. The repair took over an hour to complete and that was just the front screen.
The back glass was cracked and after researching how to repair it, it’s going to stay cracked. There is no easy repair for the cracked back glass. The glue they use is impossible to remove by yourself. You can replace the whole frame but it’s not recommended.
All in all it cost me less to fix it myself. If you’re not good with small tools and don’t have good hand-eye coordination I don’t recommend doing it. I got a good case that covers the back so for now it looks good.
I can’t believe Apple, they want $170 dollars to fix my iPhone 7 plus cracked screen. I can buy another one for a hundred and fifty more. It’s obvious from the sales rep they don’t really want to fix the phone anyway. They kept checking for water damage so they can get out from doing the repair. It seems if the device has a water mark then they won’t perform the repair. So I decided to do some research why Apple charges so much to fix iPhone 7 plus cracked screen.
My search brought me to the obvious, Apple makes money selling phones, not fixing them. The profit machine that is Apple is on a quest to dominate the cellphone industry. I mean let’s face it, the iPhone is the world’s most popular cellphone and it’s not close. But a growing problem Apple has is trying to innovate in a very competitive market. There is only so much a smart phone can do. Why do I need a new phone if the one I have works great and does everything I need it to do?
I brought my iPhone 7 plus broken screen to a third party repair store for a quote. I was shocked to find out it would cost about half as much to repair. The store told me there were a couple of reasons why. First, the store isn’t certified and doesn’t use genuine parts. I asked if that’s a big deal and they said it depends on the customer. If you’re just getting it fixed so it functions again than it’s not an issue. But if you need to restore it to factory condition than you would need to bring to Apple. I asked him if I’m trading it in than is it necessary to use the real part and they said no. As long as the device is not broken or water damaged, you can use any quality part.
Another reason why third party repair is cheaper than the Apple store, it’s what they do. Just like a car, it’s often cheaper to have it repaired by a third party service provider. They concentrate on repairs and service rather than sales. Fix iPhone cracked screen or any other screen repair is the lifeblood of a repair store. An added benefit using a third party repair store is the amount of time it takes to finish the repair. The Apple store told me I would have to pick up the device the next day. When I brought it to the third party store they said they could have it done in about a half an hour.
I decided to fix iPhone 7 plus cracked screen at the third party store. It cost me less money, less time and I got a warranty on the part for a year. It’s been seven months since I had it repaired and so far its working fine. I suggest if you need to fix your iPhone 7 plus cracked screen or any other screen, is to shop around. There are some really good affordable and safe options out there.
My iPhone is old and broken but I can’t afford a new one, what should I do? It’s just not fair, the new iPhone are really cool but really expensive. I broken iPhone 7 screen and I know I can fix it but the temptation to buy a new one is hard to overcome. What I should do is get an estimate on how much mine will cost to fix or replace.
The cost to fix iPhone these days has become really affordable. My iPhone 7 has a cracked screen and the battery doesn’t last too long. I called Apple to get a quote for iPhone 7 screen repair and was told $149, they were the most expensive by far. True, they use original parts but is it worth it? I got a quote from a third party repair store near me and they were less than half the price. I thought this was crazy but the tech explained it to me this way.
First, Apple is not in the business of repairing phones, instead they want to sell you one. They will find every excuse not to fix your phone. If there is any sign of water damage they won’t touch it. Second, the rate they charge to fix your device is close to the cost to buy a used one. They offer them for sale as refurbished but they aren’t cheap.
After shopping around I decided to get my broken iPhone 7 screen fixed at a third party repair facility. My iPhone 7 needed a new screen and a new battery. The total costs less than a fifth of the price of a new iPhone 10. Even with the new iPhone 11’s due in September it was a no brainier. The new operating system will still work with the iPhone 7 so I’ll be able to keep all my apps. The tech said if I had the 6 series it would have made more sense to upgrade to a 7 or an 8. The new operating system will only work on an iPhone 7 or newer.
So my new iPhone XR is made of glass and it looks great! I got the blue one and everyone tells me it looks great. But after one week I broke my iPhone XR back glass already and it wasn’t dropped. I keep my phone in my purse and after shopping for groceries one day it had a crack in it. I couldn’t believe it, I was so upset. I spent close to eight hundred dollars and now the phone is worth half that.
I took the phone to the Apple store and was shocked when they told me the price to fix the back glass. The representative asked why I didn’t get the apple care. Because I’m not made out of money and I take great care of my phones. My last phone was an iPhone 7 and I never dropped it and never broke it. I complained to the store and said the phone was so fragile, maybe the back glass was defective. Of course they weren’t buying it but still, the iPhone XR back glass is really fragile. And I wasn’t the only one. There were several other people there whole also had broken back glass.
My husband, who uses android keeps his phone in a big bulky case. He said it was my own fault. But I told him the whole reason I bought the iPhone XR was because of the colors. I mean why apple would make such a beautiful phone that needs to be covered by a case is crazy. The only reason my husband uses a case is because he is prone to dropping his phone. I never drop my phone.
Now I keep a tempered glass on the front and back of my iPhone XR, to protect it. The back glass is there to allow the wireless charging, not just for looks. It’s a shame how fragile it is though. I understand that this is the new design going forward so I just have to get used to it.
New iPhones are expensive, most cost more than a thousand dollars. And the newest iPhones 11 will cost even more. It’s only a matter of time before we are leasing these phones. No matter your reason buying a new device will always be expensive. should you repair or replace your broken iPhone?
The cost to repair the current iPhone 10 is very affordable. Especially if you compare it to the cost of a new phone. You can fix the device a number of times before you reach a break even point. The popularity of third party repair shops and cheap aftermarket parts make this possible.
So, which should you choose? Let’s think of it this way, what do you use your phone for? If you use it as a communication device primarily than it’s prudent to fix. On the other hand, is your phone part of your business and without it your business would suffer? Than you should probably replace it, as a new device has a new warranty and free from possible defect repair parts.
To be really prepared, have a second back up phone available. Don’t wait for the day your phone is lost, broken beyond repair and no money. Buying an older model will cost you less than $200 and all you need to do is switch out the sim card.
The newest iPhone 11 is set to be released in the late fall, just before Christmas. Once the phone is released the cost to fix the earlier modals drops significantly. If you are sure you want to keep your older phone but it needs to be fixed, wait until then.
However, you can’t get away from the hype a new iPhone generates. Along with the release of the new device is the release of the newest iOS update. Always wait a couple of weeks before upgrading your older device the newest iOS. There are bound to be some kinks that have to be ironed out first.
Cellphone dropped in water? Hopefully you’ll never have to deal with water damage. But if you do there a couple of things you can do to try and save your device. The first important thing is don’t plug your device in. Why? Because plugging it in is like throwing a hair dryer in the tub. You’ll short circuit the device for sure. If any liquid got inside the device it’s very important to turn it off. Don’t do anything else unless you can open the device and disconnect the battery. If you can’t than the next best option is to take the device to a repair facility that iPhone water damage repair near me. Water damage will start immediately so don’t wait even if the phone is still on and working.
If you can’t remove the battery or you can’t take it to a repair store that iPhone water damage repair near me, than the best option is time. You have to let the device dry completely before you turn it on again or plug it in. There is a popular urban myth about sticking it in dry rice. This will accomplish nothing but getting rice stuck in the charging port. Instead what you should do is place the device in front of a fan or other kind of air flow. The best option is to place it about a foot away from a hair dryer on low setting. If you only have the fan you should wait about twenty-four to thirty-six hours before turning it on. If you have the hair dryer than twelve hours is possible. These are estimates and should only be used if there is no repair facility.
Cellphone Water damage is very similar to a terminal disease, like cancer. It eats away at the components and once it starts it never goes away. You can slow it down but eventually it will affect the performance. If you are lucky enough to save the device the first thing you should do is…that’s right, a backup!
you can do and it’s really simple is to do a backup! You would be amazed how many people don’t back up their data. If you keep precious photos, videos, or important contacts on your device, you must do regular backups. Think of it this way, would you leave your address book, old paper photos in a box next to an open flame? Your electronic data is that vulnerable to water damage. Do regular backups!

The newest smartphones offer customers the best in cellphone technology. Both brands have a great reputation for making the best wireless devices on the market. The iPhone X series of phones include the X, XR, XS, and XS max. The Samsung galaxy 10 series includes the 10, 10e, and the 10 plus.
The new iPhones finally stepped up their technology by using the superior OLED’s. The XR still uses the LCD which makes it the cheapest of the lot. Besides this difference all of the models offer the same processor speeds and camera qualities. There is very little difference between the size of the X, XR, XS. The XR is the thickest of the four because the LCD uses a backlight which adds to the overall thickness. The XS max has the biggest screen available for any iPhone.
Samsung chose to continue with the curved screen with the Galaxy 10. The curved screen really comes into play when you use the virtual reality viewer. Galaxy users will welcome the 10e, which reminds users of the popular mini-series from days past.
A great question to ask yourself when choosing between these two brands is familiarity. If you are a Mac user and have been for a while than the iPhone will be easier to use. Having an iPad, iPhone and Mac will make a happy family. You’ll be able to communicate with each device and be able to use applications like Apple TV. The Apple operating system is one of the easiest to use, which appeals to a wide demographic group.
If you had a cellphone in the past that used android operating system than the Galaxy 10 will work best for you. This operating system is the most popular cellphone OS and is used in many cellphone brands. Another reason and probably the most popular one to use Galaxy is the superior craftsmanship. Samsung continually makes some of the best cellphones in the market. They are very durable and can last for a long time with proper care.
As with vehicles, we need to start talking about phone maintenance and repair costs. These newer devise are very expensive, some costs close to $1300. If you don’t have insurance than you know how expensive it is to fix your device. On average it’s much cheaper to fix iPhones than Galaxy using a third market repair facility. The cost of the aftermarket screens are much cheaper for iPhones compared to the Galaxies. If you tend to break your phone than you should consider this when making your decision.
